The game is starting, the Wildcats vs. the Bandits. Tou jumps offsides. A guy got injured. Tou ran into Darren. Then he finds the bully is on the other team, then he is scared.

The Hair of Zoe Fleefenbacher Goes to School by Laurie Halse Anderson

Do you like stories about trouble-making hair? Then you should read The Hair of Zoe Fleefenbacher Goes to School by Laurie Halse Anderson. This book is so good that I wanted my reader to read it right away.

This story takes place at a big orange bricked school. Another place is the teacher’s lounge. The characters are the class, the teacher, and parents. And don’t forget our little star Zoe. Zoe is a first grader so she must be six or seven years old. She also has reddish, orangeish, long, long hair that does tricks and gets her into trouble. She has freckles, one green eye and one blue eye.  In the beginning her hair messes up the entire classroom. In the middle she goes to the principals office because of her trouble-making hair. What will Zoe do to control her hair? Will she have to cut it? Read this book to find out.

The Mummy’s Gold by Kate McMullan

This story takes place on a dark night at a movie theater, a house, and outside. Jake is 10 years old, nice, has brown skin and black hair. Henry is mean, foolish, a trickster, naughty, and a troublemaker. Max is Henry’s friend. He is mean and a trouble maker. Uncle Rob is nice, weird, funny and creepy. Henry tries to sell broken toys for a lot of money. Also, he trades nickels for dimes. Henry takes Jake to the movie theater at a very dark night. Jake gets scared. Uncle Rob dresses up in a mummy costume and scared Henry and Max away. They went home and the answering machine was blinking and Jake listened to the message and it was Uncle Rob. Read this story to find out what Uncle Rob says!

Riptide by Frances Ward Weller

If you like dogs or oceans and beaches, you should read Riptide by Frances Ward Weller, illustrated by Blake Roberts.

This book takes place on a sunny day at an ocean and beach in the summer. The main characters are Zachary, the kid, and Zachary’s dog Riptide. Riptide is like a yellowish, golden ball of fur. Zachary’s other name is Zach. Zach’s dad gets him a dog because he is very lonely and has no friends. He grows and grows, until he is as big as he can get. He likes to run miles on the side chasing Zach’s little surfboard. Riptide loves the beach, but Zach isn’t supposed to have Riptide on the beach. But Zach doesn’t know and he doesn’t see the sign right by him. This old man sees the dog on the beach and and says he’s going to chase it away. Riptide got scared and ran away but the owners coudn’t find him. While Riptide was gone, he spotted a little girl in the ocean who was sinking. Will Riptide save the girl? Will he get to go home? Do you like stories about kids and cats? Well, if you do, read this book, Dolores Meets Her Match by Barbara Samuels.

This book takes place in school on a warm, sunny day. Dolores is a little girls. She loves cats and loves playing vet. Her cat Duncan is a big, colorful and brave cat. At recess, Dolores sets up a vet stand. The next day a new girl comes in to the class. Dolores gets really jealous. Even at recess the new girl gets crowded by everyone. Dolores talks to her big sister Faye and gets really good information. The next day is their Halloween party. The new girl dresses up in the same costume as Delores. Pinkalicious and Goldie always play with each other every time. Pinkalicious has a brother. Pinkalicious, Goldie and her brother sometimes play in the treehouse and play tea party in the forest. Pinkalicious and Goldie sometimes play hide and seek, dance, and roller skate. Sometimes when they play a game Goldie likes to go to their little swimming pool . This takes place at Mary Elizabeth’s house. This story is about a dog named Lucy and a girl names Mary Elizabeth. Mary Elizabeth finally gets a dog named Lucy. The next thing she wants is for Lucy, a one day old dog, to sleep in her bed. But her mom always says she’s too young. On Lucy’s first night, she cried and Mary hears and thinks, “My mom never said I couldn’t sleep with Lucy in the cage”. With an uncomfortable mistake, she goes upstairs pillowless. Do you like stories about perseverance? Then you should read The Very Clumsy Click Beetle by Eric Carle.

This book takes place outside in a neighborhood at night in spring. One of the main characters is the click beetle. There is also an old, wise click beetle. In the beginning there is a clumsy beetle that wanders everywhere. And then he goes on a walk through the sunset. He goes on a flower and he goes on a pile of rocks and he goes on a flake of grass. He went on so many places for a bug. One day he goes to climb a tree and then he falls off of it! Then an old wise click beetle comes and says, “If you need help stay there and I will help you in the morning and I’ll teach you how to flip and click up.” So, then the old, wise click beetle came back the next morning. But then a bunch of animals came and scared him, like worms, turtles, snails, and mice. A giant boy came and he almost got squished but then he said, “Just keep trying” and then he tried to click as hard as he could and then… Find out what happens next by reading this book!
