Exploring Blogs in the Classroom Ideas
November 18th, 2009
What are some ideas for using a blog in elementary education? I know there are institutional uses but what about classroom use and integrating it into a lesson plan? A few ideas thrown out in a recent workshop include:
- Student journals.
- Discussing a story that was read.
- Story creation, adding to a story on a regular basis.
- Favorite/least favorite cafeteria lunch. (This one might be something the whole school can participate in).
- Talking about classroom or school events.
What are your ideas?

Image Resize Tool
October 8th, 2009
The EduTech website has a great online tool for reducing the file size of graphics.
It is very simple to use:
- Go to http://www.edutech.nodak.edu/support/eduweb/resize/
- Browse to your image
- Select resize and it will make a copy of your image with a reduced file size leaving the original unchanged.
- Save the image to a directory of your choice. (Note that the resized image has -r appended to the end of the filename for easy recognition).
