Technology has been a shining jewel on the shelf of education for many years.  It is something we take time to admire, we brag about it, we even put it around our neck every once in a while.  However, it was not worn by all or all the time, and in many respects was put back on that shelf more than it should have been.  Today, technology is beginning to show promise that it will be the transformation that American education needs to meet its global challenges.  Today’s technology will be the catalyst that meets the needs our newest generation of students.  Smartphones, iPads, and other Personal Learning Devices are invading the sanctity of the traditional classroom forcing it to change.  Will we adapt?  Time will tell, but I fear if we don’t the system of American education, as we know it, will go the way of the Dodo Bird.
